Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, held a press conference at the headquarters of Luxor Governorate in the presence of Eng. Abdel Mottaleb Emara, Governor of Luxor, following their meeting with investors in the governorate.

The Minister stated that Luxor Governorate is among the most important governorates with a distinguished global tourism standing, hosting approximately 11,000 hotel rooms, which makes it one of the main drivers of tourism in Egypt. He noted that annual tourism revenues exceeded USD 19 billion this year, reflecting the strong economic performance of the tourism sector and creating diverse opportunities for establishing productive projects capable of meeting local market needs and supporting exports. He added that the diversity of economic activities in the governorate represents a genuine attraction for investment.

El-Khatib pointed out that the governorate has recently witnessed notable progress in the higher education sector, with the establishment of more than one new university. This contributes to the preparation of qualified human capital and supports the state’s direction toward aligning education outcomes with labor market needs and investment requirements. He also referred to proposals raised by a number of investors during the meeting regarding attracting international students to study in Egypt, noting that this trend reflects promising opportunities in the education and educational investment sectors and contributes to strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional education hub.

The Minister added that the meeting with Luxor investors discussed ways to enhance the role of the General Authority for Investment in increasing investments in the governorate, as well as available investment incentives and mechanisms to develop the business environment. These efforts aim to attract further local and foreign investments and maximize the utilization of Luxor’s economic potential.
