Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, held a meeting with Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor of Qena, as part of his current tour of Luxor and Qena governorates. The meeting was attended by Eng. Mohamed El-Gawasski, Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), along with senior officials from the governorate and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade. During the meeting, investment opportunities in Qena Governorate were thoroughly discussed.
Minister El-Khatib reviewed the presentation delivered by Governor Abdel Halim on the governorate’s investment potential. He noted that Qena, as an agricultural governorate with 1.1 million feddans of cultivated land, is well-positioned to attract investment in agro-industrial projects. The governorate also hosts industrial zones, sugar and paper factories, and has received inquiries from investors interested in the fertilizer industry.
El-Khatib emphasized the importance of securing pre-approvals for available investment opportunities to facilitate investors in accessing these projects. He also highlighted that the Ministry will coordinate with all relevant authorities and ministers to resolve any obstacles facing investment in the governorate.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor of Qena, stated that the governorate is well-qualified to attract further investment across various sectors. He highlighted efforts to promote rural tourism, including the development of Dendera Port, enhancement of the Corniche, and the renovation of building façades leading to Dendera Temple. In this context, he noted that Dendera city is being developed as a special area for rural tourism promotion.
The Governor added that Qena offers numerous promising opportunities in urban development, tourism, and agricultural projects. He stressed the importance of preparing feasibility studies for available investment opportunities and placing them on the investment map in the coming period to promote them to potential investors.
