During Prime Minister’s Tour, MIFT Minister visits Pharmazad Group Factory Complex in Banha Investment Zone

Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade:

  • The industry of pharmaceuticals and food supplements is a strategic pillar for increased localized manufacturing and accessing global markets.
  • MIFT is working in coordination with the relevant authorities to streamline the regulatory procedures and facilitate obtaining the licenses.
  • The complex produces 70 million units annually and is targeting an increase in its export share to 50% by 2026/2027.

Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), participated in an inspection visit to Pharmazad Group factory complex, specializing in food supplements and pharmaceuticals, as part of the extensive field tour conducted by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, across the investment zone in Banha City. The visit was attended by Minister of Industry, the Governor of Qalyubia, senior officials from the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), and a number of company executives.

Dr. Farid affirmed that increasing localized manufacturing and localizing the production of pharmaceutical raw materials represent a top priority for reducing import dependency and strengthening pharmaceutical security. He explained that attracting fresh investment in biotechnology and advanced manufacturing will contribute to raising the industry's added value and sharpening its competitiveness at both the regional and global levels.

MIFT Minister added that MIFT is actively coordinating with the relevant authorities to streamline all regulatory procedures and facilitate access to licenses and services for investors in the sector — reducing project setup timelines and strengthening the overall business environment. He also highlighted the importance of providing diverse financing instruments to support expansion and production plans.

Dr. Farid, alongside Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, then received a detailed briefing from Dr. Ahmed Abu El-Einen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pharmazad Group, who explained that Pharmazad operates a fully integrated industrial complex comprising 10 production units within Banha investment zone, spread across a surface area of 3,600 square meters. The complex specializes in the production of human pharmaceutical preparations and registered food supplements, manufactured in strict compliance with the highest food safety requirements.

He added that the complex's annual production volume reaches 4,590 tons, with between 60 and 70 million units of various pharmaceutical products released to market each year. He noted that Pharmazad currently exports 30% of its output, with an ambitious plan in place to raise this figure to 50% by 2026/2027, in tandem with ongoing expansion works.

On his part, MIFT Minister commended the complex’s diverse production portfolio, which encompasses advanced technologies such as soft gelatin capsules and fast-dissolving preparations. He affirmed that investment in industries of this sophistication and complexity reflects the private sector's confidence in Egypt's investment environment — particularly given the presence of a trained workforce of up to 500 men and women operating within the complex.
