MIFT Minister Meets with Vodafone Leadership to Accelerate Digital Transformation and Sharpen Egypt's Investment Edge

Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), sat down with senior leadership from Vodafone Egypt to explore avenues for collaboration on digitization, digital transformation, and the development of technology-driven solutions — all aimed at boosting service efficiency and cutting through red tape.

Dr. Farid underscored MIFT’s drive to scale up the adoption of digital solutions and bring all relevant entities onto a single electronic network, with the goal of accelerating procedures and reducing the time and cost burden on investors and business operators. He stressed the importance of partnering with the private sector to harness cutting-edge technological expertise in the modernization of government services.

The meeting brought together Dr. Mohamed Awad, the Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI CEO); Eng. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOIEC Chairman); and Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS Head)— alongside Mr. Mohamed Ayyad, Assistant MIFT Minister for Promotion and Media Relations; Eng. Sherif Yahya, Assistant MIFT Minister for Digital Transformation Affairs; and Dr. Yasmine Yamani, an official from the office of the Assistant MIFT Minister for Development and Digital Transformation.

Vodafone Egypt delegation included Mahmoud El-Khatib, Deputy CEO for Business Sector; Mamoun Qaddah, Head of Sales Department; Mohamed Belbaa, Head of Cloud Computing and Integrated Solutions Department; Hisham Refaat, Senior Director of Public Affairs; Rami Ataallah, Senior Director of Government Sector Sales Management; Ramez Hani, Senior Director of Integrated Solutions; Ahmed Hamdi, Senior Director of Solutions Engineering; Khaled Gad, Senior Director of Digital Transformation; and Mahmoud Sabri, Deputy Director of Public Affairs.

MIFT Minister further highlighted the “TradeTech Regulatory Sandbox” as a vital platform for fostering innovation and piloting next-generation digital solutions within Egypt's trade and investment ecosystem — reinforcing service efficiency and advancing the country's broader digital transformation agenda.

On their part, Vodafone Egypt's leadership walked the room through a range of digital solutions designed to interconnect trade-related entities and upgrade e-government services, reaffirming the company's commitment to championing the State's digitization, digital transformation, and government services automation efforts.

Discussions also delved into prospects for collaboration on the digitalization of the trade system and participation in the TradeTech Regulatory Sandbox which MIFT is set to launch in the coming period.
