As part of ongoing follow-up efforts, Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), chaired an expanded meeting bringing together senior MIFT officials and heads of affiliated entities, including the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA), the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS), the Cotton Arbitration and Testing General Organization (CATGO), in addition to the Trade Agreements Sector and the Foreign Trade Training Center (FTTC). The meeting aimed to review performance indicators and work plans in light of regional and international developments and their impact on the domestic market.
During the meeting, MIFT Minister emphasized that the current phase necessitates continuous monitoring and analysis of global trade flows and supply chains. He noted that the primary objective is to maintain the stability of the investment climate and ensure the efficient delivery of services to investors and exporters, while mitigating any potential adverse effects stemming from external developments on economic activity.
Dr. Farid directed the formation of an executive committee comprising representatives from all affiliated entities to ensure immediate coordination and follow-up on the implementation of digital transformation plans.
He also stressed the importance of completing the project to audit and cleanse databases and establish a unified framework for their management, ensuring the availability of accurate data to support decision-making, reduce service delivery time, and enhance user experience through comprehensive digital integration.
The meeting further addressed mechanisms for implementing the Council of Ministers decrees on resource optimization. MIFT Minister reviewed plans to transition toward remote working arrangements in eligible sectors, emphasizing that this approach aims to improve operational efficiency and sustain institutional performance without compromising the quality or speed of services provided to the business community.
