GOEIC Sustains Full Operations to Enhance Customs Clearance Efficiency at Ports
In light of the joint press release issued by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) regarding the continued operation of ports and customs outlets at full capacity throughout the year—including official holidays—the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) continues to carry out its supervisory and technical functions across all its branches at Egyptian ports. This ensures the smooth flow of foreign trade and accelerates the clearance of shipments and goods.
This comes in implementation of directives from the political leadership, and based on the instructions of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), to maintain continuous operations within the customs clearance framework and MIFT affiliated entities throughout the year.
Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh affirmed that maintaining full operational capacity at ports and customs outlets year-round contributes to preventing cargo congestion, reducing handling and storage costs for the business community, and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy. He further noted the continued implementation and development of all relevant policies, procedures, and initiatives aimed at reducing customs clearance times, simplifying processes for exporters and importers, and improving institutional service efficiency.
On his part, Eng. Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of GOEIC, emphasized that GOEIC continues to operate at full capacity across its various branches at ports and customs outlets, in coordination with all stakeholders within the customs clearance framework. This ensures the swift completion of inspection and regulatory procedures and accelerates the release of shipments.
El-Naggar explained that teams of inspectors and technical staff are working under a continuous operational framework to maintain the smooth flow of foreign trade, while fully adhering to technical standards and regulatory controls that safeguard the Egyptian market from non-compliant goods.
He added that this approach aligns with MIFT broader strategy to reduce customs clearance times, support exporters and importers, and ensure the availability of goods in the local market—particularly during periods of increased import activity, such as the holy month of Ramadan.
He further stressed that GOEIC is moving forward with the development of its regulatory and technical work, enhancing service efficiency for stakeholders, and supporting the State’s efforts to integrate Egypt into global value chains. This also reinforces Egypt’s position as a regional hub for trade and logistics, in line with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
GOEIC assured its full commitment to continuous, year-round operations in coordination with all partners within the customs clearance framework, reflecting strong institutional integration across State entities and supporting economic development goals and the competitiveness of Egyptian trade.
