Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Investment Discuss Strengthening Coordination to Attract Foreign Investment and Achieve Economic Development

H.E. Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, received on Sunday, 22 February, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, within the framework of strengthening joint coordination to attract foreign investment and achieve economic development.

The meeting addressed avenues for enhancing coordination between the two ministries, particularly with regard to efforts to attract foreign direct investment and promote available investment opportunities across priority sectors, in line with Egypt’s development objectives and Egypt Vision 2030. The discussions also covered ongoing efforts to open new external markets for Egyptian exports and strengthen trade exchange with partner countries, in a manner that supports sustainable development goals and enhances the competitiveness of the national economy.

The two ministers also emphasized the importance of intensifying institutional cooperation in promoting Egypt’s economy abroad, through coordination between Egyptian diplomatic missions and commercial representation offices, targeting priority markets and investment opportunities, and highlighting Egypt’s success stories in improving the investment climate and developing infrastructure.

The meeting further reviewed efforts to strengthen Egypt’s economic presence across the African continent by enabling Egyptian companies to expand into African markets, building on their extensive experience in implementing development projects in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, and pharmaceuticals. These efforts contribute to advancing regional economic integration and strengthening Egypt’s active presence across Africa.

On his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to mobilizing Egyptian diplomatic missions abroad to support investment promotion efforts and open new avenues for economic cooperation with regional and international partners, underscoring the importance of role integration between the two ministries to achieve national economic objectives.

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, emphasized that the coming phase requires close institutional coordination between the Ministries of Investment and Foreign Affairs to maximize the benefits of Egypt’s international relations network in attracting high-quality, sustainable foreign direct investment and opening new markets for Egyptian exports. He noted that the integration of diplomatic promotion tools with investment and trade policies enhances the competitiveness of the national economy and supports the achievement of economic development goals and job creation.
