Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, met with Mr. Gohar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, to discuss mechanisms for leveraging investment fund models as a means of providing innovative and sustainable financing products to support and develop promising sports talents. The meeting was attended by Mahmoud Gebril, Assistant to the Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA); Sally George, Advisor to the Chairman for Investment Funds Affairs; Ahmed Abou El-Saad, CEO of Azimut Investments in Egypt and Head of Asset Management for North Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey; Khalil El-Bawab, CEO of Markets Division at Beltone; Mostafa Magdy, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports for Strategic Affairs and Information; Dr. Abdallah El-Bahar, Advisor to the Minister for Marketing, Investment, and Commercial Affairs; as well as a number of senior officials from both ministries.

Dr. Mohamed Farid affirmed that the objective of the proposal is to capitalize on the investment fund model to deliver innovative and sustainable financing products that support sports talents and sporting activities. He noted that such an approach would enable promising athletes to achieve the desired level of development and attain regional and international accomplishments.

The Minister further explained that these funds contribute to achieving financial sustainability while fostering a professional social environment that supports the sports ecosystem. In this regard, he highlighted the significant efforts undertaken by the State over the past five years in developing sports infrastructure, noting that these funds would serve as a complementary financing mechanism that reinforces sustainability and supports the achievement of long-term success in the sports sector.

On his part, Mr. Gohar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, affirmed that H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed increased attention toward youth and athletes and the provision of the necessary support—particularly in the most underprivileged governorates. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in supporting sports, especially individual sports, which play a critical role in advancing Egypt’s athletes and enabling them to achieve success in regional and international competitions.

The Minister of Youth and Sports further noted that the Ministry is working in close coordination with various ministries, authorities, and relevant institutions to maximize the utilization of available resources and open new avenues for sports investment. These efforts contribute to building a sustainable financing model that supports the identification and development of talented athletes across various disciplines. He added that the establishment of an investment fund dedicated to financing sports and athletes represents a qualitative step toward strengthening public-private partnerships and introducing professional financing mechanisms aligned with international standards. Such a model ensures the continuity of support, promotes equal opportunities, and contributes to preparing a new generation of athletes capable of raising Egypt’s profile in continental and global competitions.
