As part of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s commitment to enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, underscored the importance of developing the trade promotion system in line with the State’s objectives of increasing exports and opening new markets. This came during an expanded meeting with the leadership of the Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA), followed by an inspection tour within the EECA.
The Minister noted that the current phase requires strengthened coordination between the Ministry’s sectors, affiliated entities, and Export Councils to ensure the integration of efforts and their effective orientation toward priority markets. He emphasized that export growth depends on a comprehensive vision linking production, promotion, export rebate programs, and digital transformation.
He further explained that export rebate programs represent a key instrument for supporting exporters, highlighting the importance of enhancing their targeting mechanisms to achieve optimal economic returns and strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets.
The Minister also stressed the importance of continued coordination with entities concerned with the industrial sector to facilitate procedures and remove any obstacles that may affect companies’ ability to meet their export commitments, thereby reinforcing the confidence of international partners in the Egyptian market.
With regard to the international exhibitions system, Dr. Mohamed Farid affirmed that the Ministry is working to expand targeted participation in exhibitions with strong export potential, based on market studies and clear evaluation criteria, while providing exporters with opportunities to expand into promising markets.
He also highlighted the importance of trade promotion missions as an effective mechanism for fostering direct engagement between Egyptian companies and foreign importers, noting ongoing efforts to develop the organization of these missions in cooperation with Export Councils to ensure tangible and sustainable outcomes.
The Minister further indicated that enhancing communication with the business community remains a priority in the coming phase, alongside efforts to simplify procedures and facilitate companies’ access to information and services related to export support programs.
In the context of institutional performance development, he pointed to the Ministry’s continued efforts to expand the automation of services provided to exporters, including enabling online applications for participation in exhibitions and support programs, thereby streamlining procedures and improving efficiency.
He added that the Ministry is working on developing digital platforms that connect relevant entities with exporters and provide data-driven insights to support more accurate and effective promotional decision-making.
On his part, Minister Plenipotentiary, Commercial Chairman of EECA Essam Elnaggar, reviewed ongoing efforts to develop exhibition selection mechanisms and expand Egyptian participation, affirming continued coordination with the Ministry to support a more targeted exhibitions strategy.
Following the meeting, Dr. Farid conducted an inspection tour to the EECA, during which he reviewed current operational systems and ongoing development efforts. He emphasized the importance of continuing to enhance service efficiency and improve the exporter experience, in support of the State’s efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian exports and expand their presence in international markets.
