As part of the series of meetings held during his chairmanship of the Egyptian-Belarusian Joint Committee in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Artur Karpovich, Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus, to explore ways of advancing economic cooperation between the two countries, with a particular focus on strengthening direct engagement between the business communities and creating an enabling environment for sustainable investment and industrial partnerships.

Dr. Farid emphasized that the Egyptian State places strong importance on empowering the private sector as the main driver of economic growth, stressing the need to establish effective and direct communication channels between Egyptian and Belarusian companies to accelerate cooperation and translate available opportunities into tangible investment projects.

Dr. Farid further stated that Egypt is keen to organize regular joint business forums in both countries, providing an integrated platform to present investment and trade opportunities, facilitate direct partnerships between companies, and enhance coordination with financial institutions and capital markets to support these partnerships.

Moreover, MIFT Minister reviewed opportunities and advantages for expanding cooperation in the manufacturing and assembly of heavy equipment, particularly tractors, trucks, and buses, noting that Egypt offers strong capabilities in this sector, including advanced infrastructure, well-equipped industrial zones, and competitive investment incentives, alongside ongoing efforts to create an attractive investment environment for these strategic industries.

MIFT Minister further noted Egypt’s openness to exploring various mechanisms that ensure the economic viability of joint projects within a framework of governance and transparency, emphasizing that market principles and profitability remain fundamental to ensuring investment sustainability.

On his part, Mr. Artur Karpovich, Belarusian Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with Egypt as a strategic partner and a key gateway to African and Middle Eastern markets, noting Belarus’s interest in supporting direct business-to-business engagement and expanding relations between the two countries’ business communities.

Mr. Karpovich added that the Belarusian side places strong emphasis on activating institutional cooperation mechanisms, including joint business councils and economic forums, in order to remove barriers facing investors and provide real opportunities for industrial partnerships based on technology transfer and knowledge exchange, particularly in priority productive sectors.
