Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, held an expanded meeting with Mr. Viktor Karankevich, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, during his official visit to the capital city of Minsk to chair the meetings of the Egyptian–Belarusian Joint Committee. The meeting addressed ways to advance economic and trade relations toward broader horizons that fulfil the aspirations of both countries.

Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh affirmed the Egyptian state’s full readiness to provide all capabilities and incentives required for Belarusian companies wishing to establish Egypt as an industrial base for joint production, while benefiting from Egypt’s free trade agreements to access Arab, African, and global markets.

The Minister explained that the field visits he conducted to a number of Belarusian factories specializing in equipment, tractors, and food industries revealed an advanced level of technology that could be transferred and localized in Egypt through the establishment of advanced production bases. He also noted the possibility of the Sovereign Fund participating in financing these projects to support the investment orientation of Belarusian companies.

The Minister also reviewed opportunities for cooperation in the food industries sector, expressing his aspiration to begin establishing an integrated project for the production of powdered milk, whether for industrial uses or infant formula, benefiting from Belarus’s distinguished expertise in this field.

The Minister concluded by emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation in capital markets and the tourism sector, stressing the need to begin the necessary consultations to renew the air transport agreement between the two countries. This would contribute to facilitating tourism and trade flows by linking Egyptian tourist destinations with the Belarusian capital, Minsk, through direct and regular flights.

For his part, the Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the deep and distinguished friendship between the leaderships and peoples of the two countries and his aspiration to build strong partnerships between companies from both sides that would translate official agreements into tangible results.
