In line with the state’s direction to maximize the utilization of assets owned by military production companies and to introduce new investment opportunities through the investment map in support of development across governorates, Dr. Salah Soliman Gamblat, Minister of State of Military Production, received Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Military Production in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), along with senior officials from both ministries, to discuss mechanisms for identifying, listing, and promoting investment opportunities affiliated with military production companies on the investment map, with a view to attracting investment, localizing development, and strengthening domestic manufacturing.
At the outset of the meeting, the Minister of State of Military Production welcomed the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade and the attendees, presenting an overview of the Ministry’s key activities and areas of operation, as well as the advanced technological and technical capabilities available across its affiliated companies and units. He emphasized that the Ministry possesses a well-established national industrial base and accumulated expertise that enable it to fulfill its primary role in meeting the needs of the Armed Forces and the Police, while also leveraging surplus production capacities to manufacture high-quality civilian products and implement a range of national and developmental projects.
Dr. Gamblat explained that the Ministry is operating under an integrated strategy aimed at maximizing the utilization of industrial assets, including underutilized land, buildings, and production lines, through strengthening partnerships with state institutions and the private sector. This approach contributes to attracting new investments, localizing advanced manufacturing technologies, increasing local content, and supporting the national economy. He stressed that the current phase requires greater integration among various state sectors to achieve sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian industry, in line with the directives of the President to build a strong national economy based on production, competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Farid praised the advanced industrial and technological capabilities of military production companies, affirming the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening joint cooperation to attract high-quality investments and promote effective partnerships between the government and the private sector. Such cooperation opens new horizons for industrial and productive investments and supports the state’s plans to increase production, boost exports, and create employment opportunities.
The Minister highlighted the importance of joint efforts in identifying, cataloguing, and offering land and investment opportunities affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production through the investment map, and promoting them in a professional manner. He emphasized the importance of ensuring both geographic and sectoral diversity of these opportunities, thereby contributing to the localization of development across different governorates and avoiding concentration within a limited geographic area. He added that the state aims to provide fully serviced land and ready-to-invest opportunities across various governorates and economic sectors, in support of local manufacturing, industrial deepening, and enhanced productive and export capacities.
Dr. Farid further noted that the experience of investment zones in the cities of Benha and Meet Ghamr represents a successful model in generating employment opportunities for residents of the governorates and stimulating industrial and productive activity beyond Greater Cairo and Alexandria. This underscores the importance of expanding and developing specialized investment zones across different governorates to achieve more inclusive and sustainable economic development.
He also affirmed that the Ministry continues to develop and regularly update the investment map, aligning it with the actual needs of investors to ensure the offering of realistic and implementable investment opportunities that reflect the diverse potential of the Egyptian economy and contribute to improving the investment climate and increasing foreign direct investment inflows.
The meeting also addressed avenues for enhancing cooperation with the Belarusian side across several industrial sectors, in light of Belarus’s interest in expanding economic and investment partnerships with Egypt, particularly given the existing successful industrial cooperation between military production companies and a number of Belarusian firms.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation in the coming period in support of the state’s direction toward achieving sustainable economic development, enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian industry, and creating an attractive environment for investment and production across all governorates.
