Strengthening the Strategic Partnership and Localizing Productive Technologies Between Egypt and Belarus
Held in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, as part of the official visit leading the proceedings of the Joint Committee, the meeting served as a strategic platform to discuss avenues for advancing economic relations and establishing advanced production bases in Egypt founded on technology transfer and localization. Discussions addressed mechanisms for maximizing the competitive advantages of the Egyptian economy and the various free trade agreements to provide the necessary incentives for Belarusian companies, positioning Egypt as a pivotal industrial and logistics gateway to Arab, African, and global markets.
In his remarks, Dr. Mohamed Farid, MIFT Minister, affirmed that the Egyptian government stands fully prepared to provide all incentives and facilitation measures necessary to encourage Belarusian companies to expand within the Egyptian market, highlighting the possibility of entering into joint ventures supported by financing and investments from The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE). The Minister also expressed his aspiration to translate field visits to Belarusian factories into tangible projects, foremost among them an integrated project for the production of powdered milk and infant formula based on Belarusian expertise. He further reviewed the government’s efforts to modernize the International Air Transport Agreement (IATA) to establish direct links between Minsk and Egyptian tourist destinations, facilitating trade and tourism flows while advancing cooperation in capital markets.
For his part, Mr. Viktor Karankevich, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, stated that the distinguished friendship between the leaderships of both countries provides strong momentum for expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation toward broader horizons. He emphasized his country is keen on positioning Egypt as a strategic regional hub for the assembly and manufacturing of tractors, equipment, heavy machinery, as well as advanced pharmaceutical and food industries. He further stressed the importance of building strong and direct partnerships between companies from both sides in order to translate official agreements and frameworks into tangible investment outcomes that deliver mutual benefits and equally serve the interests of both countries.
